كلا! الصراخ ليس ممنوعا

بادئ ذي بدء، لا بد من الترحم على روح الفقيدة الغالية. إن الجريمة البشعة التي تعرضت لها مريم أصابتنا جميعا في الصميم، و ما زلنا حتى هذه اللحظة مفجوعين بهول الكارثة. أعان الله أهل الفقيدة، و أعاننا جميعا على تجاوز آثار هذه الجريمة.

نعم، لا بد من الصراخ، لا بل و الصراخ عاليا، أولا استنكارا للهمجية و الوحشية، و ثانيا للتضامن مع الأهل المفجوعين، و ثالثا لأن انسانيتنا تأبى علينا السكوت و الرضوخ أمام هكذا مأساة.

لكن، هناك فرق جوهري،

بين عويل طائفي بغيض، يصنف الناس جزافا، و يحلل هنا و يحرم هناك، و ينبش آثار عنصرية و طائفية هي للأسف، ما زالت متأصلة في نفوس اللبنانيين، و لا تحتاج أكثر من لحظة فاجعة، كي تطل برأسها البغيض، فتجرد الانسان من إنسانيته، و تدفع بغريزة الانتقام إلى الواجهة، فلا يعود للعقل مكان، و لا للمنطق وجود ، و لا للتسامح موطئ قدم.

و بين صراخ عالٍ، مطالبٍ بالعدالة، و نابذٍ للفرقة، و داع للتبصر و التفكر، كي لا تفجع عائلة أخرى، و لا نبكي عروسا أخرى، و لا نعنى أماً ثكلى.

تقرير ال بي سي الأخير، كان عويلاً و لم يكن صراخاً، كان موقظاً لفتنة بغيضة، و لم يكن استنكارا لفاجعة، كان نبشاً للعداء و البغضاء بين الطوائف والأديان، و بين الأجانب و اللبنانيين، و لم يكن وأداً للكراهية البغيضة.

مأساة ميريم أشقر، هي مأساة لكل نساء لبنان، اللاتي يتعرضن للتحرش و الاعتداء و الاغتصاب و الضرب و القتل. هي مأساة مجتمع ذكوري سلطوي، حول جسد المرأة سلعة تباع و تشترى. هي مأساة كل لبناني، بل كل انسان يعيش على تراب لبنان، مهما كان دينه أو طائفته أو جنسيته أو ثقافته.

إنها ليست مأساة مسيحية فقط، و ليست مأساة تخص اللبنانيين دون الأجانب، و ليست مؤامرة مبيتة، لا ضد المسيحيين، و لا ضد ساحل علما، و لا ضد لبنان.

كنا ننتظر من مرسال غانم إيضاح هذا الألم، و هذه الفاجعة، و أن يوحد الجميع على رفض الجريمة، و استنكار الفاجعة، و المطالبة بتحقيق العدالة، دون عنصرية و دون طائفية و دون بغضاء.

فهل كنا سنقبل الجريمة لو كانت الفتاة في طريقها إلى السهر في الجميزة، أو عائدة من عملها في ملهى ليلي، أو متوجهة إلى جامعتها أو مقر عملها؟؟؟!! و هل كنا سنقبل الجريمة لو ارتكبها لبناني؟! و نطالب بمسامحته و العفو عنه؟؟!!

الجريمة جريمة، بغض النظر من ارتكبها، و من ارتكبت بحقه. هي مدانة و مرتكبها مدان، دون تعميم الذنب على بني طائفته أو جنسيته.

كلا! الصراخ ليس ممنوعاً، و لكن العويل مستنكر و مدان و ممنوع كذلك......

اليـــــوم وغـــــداً

قبل أربع سنوات، كان عرس، ليس في قانا الجليل، بل في قلب بيروت، إنه عرس الشهادة. سقط جبران تويني شهيداً للوطن، لكل حبة تراب من أرضه، من جنوبه إلى شماله، مروراً بالمدينة الأحب إلى قلبه "ست الدنيا".
بعد هذه السنوات، تبدلت أمور كثيرة، وتبدل كثيرون، لكننا في "النهار" باقون على العهد، العهد الذي رسمه جبران الجد، وحدده وأعلى مدماكه غسان تويني، وشهد له بالحبر والدم جبران الحفيد، ومعه سمير قصير. باقون على العهد مع إطلالة كل نهار وكل صياح ديك معلناً الحقيقة، وهاتفاً لحرية لبنان وسيادته واستقلاله وكرامة بنيه.
نتذكرك اليوم، ونحن لا ننساك. نكرر قسمك الشهير ولو لم يقتنع به بعض أهل المنافع والأبواق، الساعين دوماً إلى الفتنة والتقسيم، أو إلى ابتلاع البلد، ونسف الصيغة والكيان.
عهدا جبران، لبنانك لبناننا، سنحافظ عليه، وستظل "النهار" لبنانية، عربية، مستقيمة الرأي، مؤمنة بأن الحق أقوى، والخير أفعل، وذكراك باقية، ولبنان أبدي.

"النهار

عِبَر في الذكرى

ها هي الذكرى تحل مجدداً بتاريخها الرسمي الذي يعرفه الجميع، فيما الذكرى لدينا تتجدد كل صباح ومساء. وهي تتمدد كل يوم في قلوب اللبنانيين الشرفاء الذين لا يستسلمون ولا يساومون، على رغم ما يشاهدون من سيناريوات لأفلام ومسلسلات مصطنعة تحاول ان ترسم واقعاً جديداً لا نرضاه في العمق، بل نرضخ له حتى لا يقال اننا نقف في وجه الوفاق الوطني أو نعطّله.
ها هم اليوم يفتشون عن مقعد وزاري أو نيابي أو وظيفة فئة أولى أو عاشرة، فيرضون الانقلاب على أنفسهم وعلى مواقفهم للأمس القريب، ويقنعون أنفسهم. تتحرك آلة الدعاية السياسية في دمشق وطهران، ويطلع صداها في بيروت، دفاعاً عن سوريا التي يعبّدون الطريق اليها، لتعود حضنهم وملجأهم وربما مركز قرارهم.
وتطلع وسائل اعلام لتدين "فتح الاسلام" وتبرئ النظام السوري مستبقة قرار المحكمة الدولية الخاصة بلبنان، ومتجاوزة القضاء اللبناني الذي يشعر في كثير من الاحيان، كأنه غير معني، بعدما سلّم أموره الى القضاء الدولي، وتعمل الأجهزة الأمنية في النسق ذاته، من دون ان تقدم لنا تحقيقاً واضحاً عن هوية "فتح الاسلام" وعن تأسيسها وعن الدعم الذي توافر لها وعن الغطاء السياسي الذي حرّك عملها، وماذا عن شاكر العبسي الذي كان سجيناً في سوريا قبل ان يطلق الى العمق اللبناني؟
لم يتطرّق البيان الحكومي الى حلول جذرية للملف الفلسطيني، رغم بوادر حلول لا نفهم طبيعتها، عادت لتنطلق مع "اللقاء الديموقراطي" ورئيسه النائب وليد جنبلاط، بدأت بمقبرة ولا نعلم أين ستنتهي؟
تعود الذكرى أليمة، وليست محبطة، كما يتصوّر البعض، لأني أعود إليك، إلى ما قلته سابقاً اثر التحالف الرباعي في انتخابات 2005، من ان الشعب هو 14 آذار، وان الشباب هم عماد هذه الحركة النضالية، وان إرادتهم أقوى من السياسيين، وحساباتهم، وربما صفقاتهم.
لذا أجدني اليوم جامدة. نعم. ولكن غير متراجعة، وغير متخلفة عن اللحاق بركب المستقبل. فالمستقبل يصنعه أبناء الشهداء واصدقاء الشهداء ومحبو الشهداء. لن ينسى أنصار رفيق الحريري، ومحازبو بيار الجميل وانطوان غانم، وقرّاء جبران تويني وسمير قصير، واصدقاء وليد عيدو، ومحبو باسل فليحان، وعارفو فرنسوا الحاج ووسام عيد، وكل اصدقاء مروان حماده والياس المر ومي شدياق، وكل أفراد عائلات شهداء الظل الذين تناثروا أشلاء في الهنا والهناك. هؤلاء اذا ما اجتمعوا، فإنهم، مع عائلات آلاف شهداء الحرب اللبنانية، والحروب، حروب الآخرين على أرضنا، الى شهداء الجنوب الصامد، هؤلاء قادرون على رسم معالم جديدة للبنان، لأنهم أيقنوا معنى الشهادة، وذاقوا معنى الألم، ولم يعودوا مستعدين للتنازل بعدما بذلوا الغالي والرخيص.
واني أتفهم تماماً موقف سعد الحريري وشعوره خلال زيارته المرتقبة الى دمشق كرئيس للحكومة، لأنه حتى لو ثبت عدم تورّط النظام هناك، فإنه لن ينسى محاولات العرقلة، وفي بعضها الاذلال الذي مورس على الرئيس الشهيد، كما على آخرين من رؤساء ووزراء ونواب ومسؤولين، ووسائل اعلام وغيرها.
نعم نريد ان نتطلّع الى المستقبل. ولكن أي مستقبل اذا لم يبنَ على منجزات الاستقلال الثاني الذي تحقق بانسحاب الاسرائيلي والسوري من الاراضي اللبنانية؟ أي مستقبل اذا لم يقدّر شهادات الناس؟ وأي مستقبل اذا لم يكن خالياً من أي سلاح غير شرعي؟ وأي مستقبل اذا لم تتحرر الارادة كاملة؟
المستقبل أمامنا، وهو ما سنبنيه معاً، بالنضال السياسي، والفكري والاجتماعي، لا بالسلاح، الذي مهما كان "مقدساً"، فإنه سيصير ميليشيوياً، عندما يتحوّل الى الداخل، للتقاتل، ولفرض الرأي والارادة والقرار، لأنه حينذاك سيعيد التاريخ دورته وسنجلب الخارج ليحتلنا مجدداً، وهذا ما لن نرضاه.

للسنة الرابعة على التوالي أشرب نخبك يا جبران تويني.
أشرب نخب استشهادك المملوء دماء زكية والمجبول بالعنفوان والكرامة.
أستعرض وقفاتك البطولية في ساحة الحرية ومن على منبر البرلمان وعلى صفحات "النهار".
أستعيد خطاباتك ومقابلاتك وصوتك الهادر في وجه أعداء لبنان، وفي وجه المتاجرين به في الداخل، وفي وجه العملاء الصغار الصغار.
أهكذا يرحل الأبطال؟
أهكذا يهوي العمالقة؟
أهكذا تغادرنا في غفلة من الزمن ولبنان بأمسّ الحاجة إليك؟ أتتركنا ونحن في خضمّ "ثورة الأرز" التي أشعلت نارها مع زميلك الشهيد سمير قصير وبقية شهداء "انتفاضة الاستقلال"؟
لا.
جبران لم ترحل ولن تفعل.
أنت حاضر في ضميرنا ووجداننا.
أنت الصوت الصارخ في بريّة لبنان ومربعاته الأمنية وحاملي السلاح غير الشرعي وكل المتعاملين مع السوري الساعي دائما وأبدا الى قضم لبنان.
أنت باق في قلوبنا نستلهمك عند كل مفترق. نشحذ نار ثورتنا من غليان دمك في عروقنا.
ونعاهدك أن نبقى على وعدك وقسمك طالما بقيت قلوبنا تخفق وتنبض بحبّ لبنان.
جبران،
لن ننسى أن في يوم استشهادك ثمة من ظن أنه انتصر عليك وعلينا فشرب الكأس حتى الثمالة ظنا أنه انتقم منك وأسكتك. ولكنه بعد 4 أعوام يكتشف أنك لم تمت ولا يمكن أن تموت لأنك باق، باق، باق...

هذا اليَمّ التوينيّ

لا تستطيع الأيام والسنون تغييب جبران تويني وحضوره الساطع وصوته المدوّي، ولا تستطيع ان تحوِّله مجرَّد ذكرى، مجرَّد مناسبة، مجرد احتفال تكريمي ينتهي بانتهاء الكلمات وانسدال الستارة.
إنه هنا معنا. هنا دائماً. يتنقَّل بين المكاتب والطبقات والزملاء والزائرين، باسماً، مشجّعاً، مذكِّراً الجميع ان لـ"النهار" رسالة تتجاوز باهتماماتها حدود لبنان وقضاياه الى حدود العالم العربي وقضاياه، الى حدود الحرية في كل مكان، الى حدود الشعوب المناضلة دفاعاً وذوداً عن استقلالها وسيادتها.
إنه معنا، اليوم. غداً. وبعده. وبعد سنة وسنين.
هنا، لا يبارح المبنى الزجاجي الذي حاكه بيديه قطعة قطعة، وتابعه من الأساس حتى اكتملت حلته وانتشرت أسرة "النهار" بين طبقاته.
هنا، وسيبقى حاضراً في قلب "نهاره"، وقلوب النهاريين، يحثُّهم على المضيّ والإقدام في مسيرة الحرية والإباء، بشجاعة ومناعة وايمان.
وسيبقى في قلب لبنان العظيم، لبنانه الذي وهبه حبه الكبير، ولهفته، وشغفه، وأقسم له، وشهد واستشهد فداء عنه. وفي قلب كل لبناني يتطلَّع الى وطن سيد عزيز شامخ.
لا يمكن ان يتمَّ الاحتفال إن لم يتصدَّر جبراننا منبره وصفوفه، وإن لم تضج القاعة بدوي صوته الذي أجفل حتى الموت، وصانعي الموت، وأبناء الموت.
ها هو اليوم، ها هو يتابع تحضير مراسم الاحتفال بكل تفاصيله.
بل ها هو في مقدَّم الحضور، أول الواصلين، أول المتكلِّمين، أول المرددين "نقسم بالله العظيم، مسلمين ومسيحيين، أن نبقى موحدين، الى أبد الآبدين، دفاعاً عن لبنان العظيم".
ها هو جبران، جبراننا. وها نحن نتساءل، بحضوره المقيم فينا، ماذا يعني أن نكون أوفياء لـ"النهار" في ذكرى وارث آل تويني فيها أَباً عن جد؟
يعني أن نكون أوفياء للأوفياء، لحملة الرسالة والمشعل، للحقيقة والحريّة، للبنان الوطن والصيغة والنظام والديموقراطية المنزهة، للحداثة، للغة العربية والتراث العربي، ولحرّاس القيم والتقاليد الكتابيَّة، للمؤسَّسة التي اتسعت صفحاتها وأعمدتها وسطورها وكلماتها ومنشوراتها لكل الهموم الوطنيَّة والانسانية في هذه الأمة.
هذه العائلة النادرة، القريبة بفصولها من الحكايات والأساطير، القريبة برجالاتها وسيداتها من الينابيع الاولى للعطاء والتضحية والفداء.
جميعهم "استشهدوا"، في شكل أو في آخر، من جبران الجد المؤسٍّس الذي حمل همَّ العروبة وقضيتها التي كانت قضيته الاولى، حتى أُثقلت كاهله وانفجرت في قلبه ودماغه.
أما ذلك الجبل، ذلك الشهيد الحي، استاذنا غسان أطال الله عمره، فقد أعطى كل ما يملك. كل ما له. عقله، قلبه، خياله، ديناميكيته، ثقافته، شجاعته، رؤيويته الخلاَّقة، الى عشقه وهيامه ببيروت والقدس ورحاب العروبة الأصيلة التي ينتمي الى جذورها وتاريخها بكل وجدانه وعراقته.
في مثل هذا اليوم قبل أربع سنوات غادرنا الحبيب جبران على صهوة شهادة مدوّية وصلت دقَّات أجراسها الى أفياء القدس وحنوات فلسطين. حاملاً على كتف "نهاره" وعلى الكتف الأخرى لبنانه الذي جعله صلاة وحكاية للأجيال.
اليوم نجد أن مسؤوليتنا مضاعفة تجاه جبران الشهيد وجبران الجد، وتجاه ذلك الطود، ذلك الجبل، ذلك المعلم، تلك العلامة اللبنانيَّة الفريدة، معلمنا غسان، وتجاه "النهار" مدرستنا وبيتنا وعائلتنا التي انتقل مشعلها الى هذه الوردة الناصعة التي تقف صامدة ببسالة في وجه الرياح والعواصف.
لا تغرنَّكم فتوَّة نايلة جبران غسان جبران تويني، ولا يغرنَّكم هذا الضوء الذي يزقزق في وجهها وعينيها. فهي نايلتنا. وهي ربّانة هذه السفينة العريقة، المتخمة بالامجاد والأعباء والتضحيات والشهادات، وهي على قدر العزائم وقدر المسؤولية.
وعلى هذه الدرب، وفي هذا اليمّ التوينيّ الذي لا يعرف الهدوء ولا التعب، ستكمل نايلة المشوار.

"زيّان"

... حرفه لا يموت

وإن مات، حرفه حيٌّ لا يموت..
من غسل وجهه كل صباح بحرفٍ من أبجدية القضيّة الوطنية..
من زوّج قلمه للوطن، وأنجب منه كلمات الاستقلال والسيادة والحرّية..
من سكن فينا... إلى أبد الآبدين..

كلما حضر صوته، استعدّ قلمي للترحيب.. وكلما بدأت في ترتيب حروف اسمه، ارتعشت الذاكرة وزلزلت حنجرة قلم جبران التويني الأوراق.
تلك الحنجرة الوطنية التي كانت تضج بصرخة الحرّية معلنةً الحرب ضد الإرهاب الذي تعرض له وطننا الحبيب لسنوات وأخذ من بيننا أغلى الأحباب.
لم تكن تدري أن صرختها ملأت شرايينه حتى الاستشهاد..
وملأت أوردة الورق حبراً وطنيا حتى... الانفجار.

بكتكَ حروفٌ سقطت دمعتها غضباً عليهم وفخرا بك يوم سقوطهم في عليائك.
ظنّوا أنهم قتلوك لفرط جهلهم، ولم يعوا أن قلمك اخطبوط يحاصرهم حيثما كانوا.. ولا زالوا أغبى من فهمِ لغة الحرّية.

الحُرّ حرفٌ لا يخاف.. لا يُقهر.. لا يموت.

خواطر... مع جبران في رحلته الأخيرة

في الرحلة الاخيرة... كنا معا في باريس. وكانت المناسبة حضور حفل تقليد غسان تويني وسام جوقة الشرف الفرنسي من رتبة ضابط عرفانا بمسيرته وخدماته الجلى للعلاقات اللبنانية – الفرنسية. وفي الحفل ليل الجمعة 9 كانون الاول في مقر رئاسة الحكومة الفرنسية في شارع فارين في الدائرة السابعة من باريس، وقف رئيس الوزراء الفرنسي دومينيك دو فيلبان يلقي كلمة جمع فيها ادبا رفيعا بالكثير من العاطفة الشخصية التي تربط الرجلين المحبين للاداب و"الثقافة الانسيكولبيدية". وهناك في الصف الخلفي وقف جبران متابعا بشغف كبير كلمتي والده ودوفيلبان، وحمل في يده آلة تصوير اراد من خلالها ان يسجل تلك اللحظات المؤثرة والتي ما كانت إلا لتزيده فخرا واعتزازا بوالده، ذلك الرجل الكبير الكبير. وطوال الحفل التقط جبران صورا لكل من حوله، وكأني به يتابع مسارا بدأه وهو في سن الثامنة او التاسعة عندما التقط مصادفة صورة لحادث سير مروع على الطريق وهبّ مسرعا الى الجريدة ليعطي الفيلم ولينشر الخبر في اليوم التالي مع الصورة التي التقطها.
يوم الاحد 11 كانون الاول، كانت لنا زيارة لمي شدياق التي كانت طريحة الفراش في المستشفى المتخصص بعلاج ذوي الاصابات الخطرة خارج باريس. وكانت بين جبران ومي مودة وصداقة وتواصل. وتشاء المصادفات ونحن نعود مي مع سهام، ان يجري تسجيل لقطات من الزيارة بعدسة زميل لنا مصور من "ال بي سي" كان هناك بجانب مي. وكانت لحظات مؤثرة فعلا، لأنها آخر مشاهد حية التقطت لجبران تويني قبل استشهاده صبيحة اليوم التالي. ولعل اهم ما في زيارة مي، ان الاخيرة كانت تعاني في تلك الايام احباطا شديدا بسبب الآلام المبرحة التي سببتها الجراحات المتتالية التي خضعت لها طوال الشهرين الفاصلين بين محاولة اغتيالها واغتيال جبران. وإنْ انس لا انسى ولا اظن مي تنسى كيف رفع جبران معنوياتها، وشد من همتها، وشجعها، وغمرها عاطفة وحنانا، وهي في ذروة الألم. لقد كان الحس الانساني والعاطفي في شخصية جبران مجهولا لدى الكثيرين، اما نحن فكنا نعرفه وندرك ان عاطفته تجاه محيطه العائلي او في دائرة الاصدقاء كانت تتفجر في الشدائد، وكان الرجل الحاد في مواقفه السياسية يتحول كتلة حنان والى حضن يتسع لاحزان محبيه واشجانهم.
لن اسرد الساعات الاخيرة في حياته، ولكني اتوقف قليلا عند نظرة جبران في المرحلة التي سقط فيها، ولم يقل فيها الكثير.
كان جبران في تلك المرحلة المفصلية من تاريخ لبنان منخرطا في معركة الاستقلال والسيادة ركنا اساسيا من اركان ثورة الارز، وكان يعرف انه على رأس لائحة الاهداف للتصفية الجسدية. ولم تساوره لحظة شك في هوية الجهة الفاعلة. وكان مقتنعا بوجود رابط بين اول محاولة اغتيال في الاول من تشرين الاول 2004 التي استهدفت مروان حماده، واغتيال الرئيس رفيق الحريري وصولا الى آخر محاولة قبل استشهاده اي محاولة اغتيال مي شدياق في 25 تشرين ايلول 2005. وفي تلك الفترة كانت المعلومات الواردة من مصادر عربية واوروبية تشير الى ان الحكم في سوريا بدا يفقد توازنه بسبب الضغط الدولي والعربي الذي تعرض له في اعقاب اغتيال الرئيس الحريري واشتعال ثورة الارز في لبنان. في هذا المجال كان جبران تويني انضم الى المؤمنين، أسوة بزميله سمير قصير الذي سبقه الى الشهادة، بأن الديموقراطية لن تزهر حقيقة في لبنان ما لم تزهر في سوريا، وبأن ربيع بيروت لن يكون ما لم يكن ربيع العرب. في هذا الشأن انتقل جبران من موقف اللامبالي بما يحصل وراء الحدود، الى موقف الناظر بتمعن والمتابع بدقة بالغة لمآل التحولات التغييرية التي كانت تلوح في الاجواء السورية.
هذا لم يكن يعني ان جبران تويني ايد التدخل في الشأن السوري الداخلي. ولكنه ادرك ان لبنان لن يكون في مأمن من اطماع الجار المتعب ما لم يحصل تغيير جوهري في الذهنية السائدة على مستوى الحكم. وقد دلت التطورات اللاحقة ان شيئا لم يتغير الى اليوم، ولن يتغير. ولعل ابلغ الدلائل الاستنابات القضائية السورية التي يحاول حكام دمشق من خلالها فرض خريطة سياسية جديدة في البلاد، وذلك على مسافة ايام من زيارة رئيس الحكومة نجل رفيق الحريري. ومن المفيد ان يدرك هؤلاء الحكام ان الزيارة لن تلغي يقيناً بهوية الجهة التي ارتكبت هذا الكم من الجرائم السياسية في حق اركان الثورة الاستقلالية في لبنان.
سقط جسد جبران تويني على درب الاستقلال، كما سقطت قبله وبعده اجساد استقلاليين كبار. واليوم يحاولون اغتيالات من صنف آخر: الاغتيال السياسي والمعنوي. فحذار يا ابناء ثورة الارز ان تتراخوا، وحذار يا قادة ثورة الارز في اي موقع صرتم ان تديروا ظهوركم، او ان تدفنوا رؤوسكم في الرمال.

Our Heroes

I know I haven't published anything in a VERY long time, mainly because politics in Liban these days has decided NOT to follow democracy as the whole world recognize it, and used it's own version of "CONSENT DEMOCRACY".

But, and because we have to RECOGNIZE those who deserve to, this post is named for our own Interior Minister, Mr. Ziad Baroud, who was recently elected by Magazine Monocle, as one of the top 25 persons in the world who made a difference in their countries.

One can only be PROUD, and pray that we will see more of Mr. Baroud in the near future for the seek of our country.

The LEADER

Yet, the General was talking behind a “non-transparent-isolating-glass”, as the writing indicate in the picture above.

Irony of life…how the LEADER of the largest bloc ever is HIDING…and how those who don’t represent any other Christian (in the General’s opinion, those are EVERYBODY else, except maybe for Franjieh…at least for now) are walking among their supporters with no barriers.

But then again…what do we know? Who are we to discuss the sayings and opinions of the Orange General…the NEXT LEADER of the Parliament……

Tribunal For Liban

They doubted us. They accused us of traitor. They wanted us to “move on”. They denied us our rights. They laughed at us for wanting justice and truth. And they kept on murdering us.

But we refused to surrender, to stop dreaming, to accept the reality, that we are not united, that we are not independent, that we don’t have democracy, and we won.

March 1^st, 2009, justice is near, the truth is closer than ever before. The tribunal is a fact, not an theory. It’s a reality, not an illusion. It’s the fruit of our survival.

Congratulations Liban, congratulations to all our Martyrs, to each and every one of you who refused to give up, to all of us dreaming of an independent, stable, prosper Liban.

To my Idol Gebran, wish you were here with us today. It should have been you standing at Freedom Square, talking to us, congratulating us, promising us never to surrender, never to give up, never to lose faith, never to stop dreaming. But I’m certain that your soul is here with us, I can almost see you your face, with a huge smile on your face, and tears of joy in your eyes.

It’s a glorious day, to a glorious country. Congratulations Liban……   

As If It Was 2005....

It is Feb. 14th, 2009. People from all over Liban gathered one more time refusing to give up. Somewhere there 'cause they want to remember Rafic Hariri, others were there 'casue they want to show the world that March 14th is still strong. I was there 'cause I can't even think that all our martyrs' blood be wasted. The tribunal is near. Justice is near.

I won't be talking politics, and what Politicians said. Pictures speak loud. We are still here, and we are still strong. Never give up Hope.......  

Gebran Tueni's Memorial

This year, I went to the grave, I needed to see. Still hard to believe.

The funeral this year was much better than last year; it wasn't full of politics, at least not that obvious. There weren't any parties' flags or riots, a simple quite gathering and honoring a great man.

Ghassan didn't show up, unlike the past two years, and Nayla was leading the scene. Seems like the rumors of her running for MP is true, especially with the presence of Nadim Gemayel there as well.

Liban Celebrates Sleiman

Today, Liban, all of Liban is celebrating the new president. The amount of joy, happiness and hope in the country is unbelievable, and let me add, illogical. But it seems the Lebanese are simply "fed up" of the whole political struggle, and they are willing to "turn a blind eye" and just hold on to any hope.

But today is not a day to analyze what is going to happen, or how things are to progress. The country has been without a president for over 6 months now, and just couple of weeks ago, the whole country was about to vanish. So we SHOULD celebrate the back to normalcy, at least for the time being. As Imrou El-Kays put it AGES ago: "Elyawm khamr, w ghadan amr" "Today we drink, tomorrow we act"......

The After Math

Now that life has got back to its norm in Beirut, and to the rest of Lebanese areas. It's a good time to sit, thin and analyze the after math of the last escalations.

Of course, depending on what side you are supporting, the conclusions will be totally different, as it's the thing with everything is Liban lately...

Nevertheless, there are certain points that no one can deny:

• The so-called "Holly Arsenal" has gone with the wind; HA is just another militia that its arsenal needs to be "organized" or better yet "disarmed".
• HA has lost all kinds of support, or even sympathy among the vast majority of Sunnies, Druze, as well as a significant proportion of Christians (including HA's own allies).
• There's no such thing as the "State's Power"; Liban is a big farm, where every "cock" govern his "chicken" and agreeing to live next to other "cocks".
• EVERY DAMN BODY in the country is armed; with HUGE varying degrees of course in both amount and experience. Nevertheless, they are all armed, and always ready to start "killing".
• The "Tolerant" Sunnies received a huge "blow", and fundamentalists, radicals and extremists are starting to appear again, demanding the return of "Jihadism", asking for "Revenge", and worst of all, Sunni youth giving support to such movements.
• Sectarian hate and clashes had reached the roof! There are calls from Beirut Sunnies to "Ban dealing with any Shiite", and Shiites insisting more than ever, that there only salvation is HA, never the State.
• So long for the days of "Free press". Nowadays, closing down TV stations, radios, and newspapers has become the new "fashion" in Liban.
• The Army has proven one more time, that it can't protect its people; all it can do is wait for the killing to stop, to put a meaningless "check point", and count the casualties from both sides, asking for public awareness to "bury" the escalations!
• Another "Dialog Session", another "endless hope" from poor Lebanese, asking for nothing but for things to settle down, so they can live and raise their kids.
• Liban has lost once again. Lebanese, all Lebanese has lost one more time. And the worst thing ever is that people are "celebrating" whenever their party members "kill" or "Destroy" members or properties of others.
• HA's has become a major problem, and we can't go on like that anymore, but what can March 14th do about it? How can convince HA to disarm its arsenal? Especially after the last escalations?

Here's an awful example of how much sectarian hate has escalated, even among the youth: (Though I don't accept messages of hate in my blog, but it is necessary to show how bad things have become lately).

We won't give up, we won't stop. Our dream of a free, democratic, independent Liban will come true. You can occupy us, you can kill us, but you will NEVER EVER take away our FREEDOM...

The Choice Is Yours!

Today, we showed the whole world that we have two Lebanons! In fact, we showed the world that we are two opposites that can NEVER meet!

Irony of life...the smallest country is waging war against Israel and Syria at the same time!


In Martyrs' Square, M14 came strong, sending the strongest message against the Syrian regime ever, accusing it of being an "Israeli Product", insisting on electing General Sleiman as the next president at any costs, and threatening "their enemies" that the Tribunal is coming to harvest their necks.
But one can't mess how M14 didn't mention its rejection of the 10-10-10 formula! All of them were clear in refusing the "Blocking third", all of them insist on the Arab Summit initiative, but NONE of them rejected the 10-10-10 formula. It seems everything is set up! General Sleiman is to be elected, and a 10-10-10 Government is to be made, at least this is what M14 seems to be wanting.


In the Southern Suburb, HA was waging an "open war" against Israel, accusing it of assassinating HA's senior officer, Meghneyya, and promising to eliminate Israel from existence. Nasrallah was clear in saying that "June 2006 war is far from over, and everything that is going on nowadays, is nothing but a part of this "Long-Lasting" war. Nasralla told Jumblatt without mentioning his name directly "If you want devorce, you can leave to your masters in USA, or Tel Aviv"
On the other hand, Nasrallah didn't mention one word about electing the president, nor about the next Government, other than the "usual" refusal of "dividing" or "federalizing" Lebanon, and the ever-lasting commitment to keep the country a "resistant Lebanon", in an open war against Israel.


Gloomy picture is being drawn, the nation has proved today, with no doubt, that it is a divided one. One side waging war against Israel, another waging it against the Syrian regime, with half of the Country's population down in streets, under the rain, irony of life!!!!



The question remains though, where is the FPM? The one crowd that was missing was the FPM!! Where do they stand? Where should they have been today? In Martyrs's Spuare? Or in the Southern Suburb? What is that you are going to do Orange General? The Choice is yours!

Being Lebanese

Every time I feel that things are going to the unknown, I like to take a break from the whole mess, and go away for a while.

Between the "gunshots" and the "War talks and actions" that seems to be the new fashion of the political leaders in Liban lately (as if no one can see the "shit" we are in already), I thought that nothing can take me away from this madness but to go to "Prague" in Hamra.

To those of you unfamiliar with the place (if that is in any way possible!!), it is one of the most famous, most popular pub/restaurant in Beirut, with an amazing "home feeling" atmosphere, and always an excellent taste of music.

I sat with a dear friend of mine whom I haven't seen in a long time, no news, no politics, just lots and lots of catching up. It sure helped me forget the "shit" we are living nowadays.

As I was on my way back to my car, I randomly met Nobilis Tobilis and MMMMMMM (sorry man if i missed or added some M's by mistake lol). It was the first time I see M's, and it has been really long since I last saw nobilis. Before we know it, the talk was directly switched from "hey, what's up?" to our daily bread; politics.

I wish I could say otherwise, but the hope that we used to have for this country have significantly decreased, to the point were even hard-asses-stubborn-strong-believers in Liban are doubting their choice of staying in Beirut nowadays.....

Three years ago, we had great hopes, and string believes that Liban is coming back to us. Nowadays, we are wondering where we had lost it...

I don't want to be gloomy, and I sure ain't losing hope in a better future, but one can't miss the "sadness" in this nation's youth....

But again, and with some unexplained resilience, and hard-ass-pure-Lebanese mentality, the three of us agreed that we can never give up, and that we should meet again soon, and bring the lost hope back!

Illogical...some might even say madness....but I have one word to describe it.....

Snipers My @$$??!!

According to the pro-opposition Assafir newspaper, the so-called snipers are NOT responsible for the casualties!!!???

ولم يقتصر الأمر على المعلومات، بل تم وضع بعض أشرطة «الفيديو» المسحوبة من بعض كاميرات المراقبة لمؤسسات تجارية في المنطقة التي حصلت فيها الاشكالات، وأظهرت في بعضها كيف قُتل بعض الأشخاص ومنهم عناصر في «حزب الله» و«أمل» كانوا يعملون على التهدئة، فضلا عن الكشف الطبي الشرعي الذي أظهر أن معظم الاصابات حصلت عن قرب!

Translation: "The forensic medicine report showed that most of the casualties were shot at from a close range".

I think the best thing to do is NOT to comment....you can come up with your own conclusions......

President Sleiman...No More??

Army men lost in the middle of nowhere??!

What really happened yesterday? A question that needs an answer.

Someone would say: "It's very simple, people are just fed up of all the suffering and injustice they are facing, and they went out on streets asking for their rights. But the Evil hands used this opportunity to start a war that would never end."

Another would argue: "How come such riots ONLY happens in the Opposition-based territories? And HA ones to be exact? And how come that it always comes along a major turning point in the political crises? This was nothing but a political, opposition-aided movement to put more pressure in bargaining."

But one must follow the situation carefully. Right now, everybody is waiting for the Army Commander's next move, while trying their best to gain whatever that can be gained from last night unfortunate incidence.

The opposition, is clearly divided over the matter. HA's Media-arm AlManar is lunching a huge attack on the Army, asking why these "innocent" people were shot at, who gave such orders to "assassinate" civilians, and clearly pointing out fingers towards "traitors" among the Army and the Majority. HA's MP Ali Ammar said: “The blood of the people of the south and of Dahieh cannot be used as a stepping stone by those aspiring to high positions”. Mr. Kmati, also stressed that HA is "questioning" the whole General Sleiman candidacy now, after what happened yesterday.

Amal and FPM officials, on the other hand, tried their best to blame M14, insisting on that the Army is still "The only symbol of National Unity in the country now", and accusing M14 militias (AKA Lebanese Forces) of trying to "break" the historic, strong, and unbreakable ties between the Opposition and the Army. They also put their "100% trust" in the Army once again, as it is doing what should be done to "reveal" the true "traitors" who caused this massacre.

M14 is blaming the Syrain-Iranian axis for the whole mess, claiming that this is nothing but putting more pressure over the Arab summit in Cairo. LF Leader Jeajea stressed that the Army is not to be held responsible, mocking the Opposition's accusations against LF, and stressing that yesterday's riots were organized by the opposition, as such riots ONLY take places in HA's areas. Minister Safadi said that the riots "Used the Electricity cut crisis" to cover the real political goals out of the whole incident yesterday, stressing that "Sheyah area received more electricity than all other areas of Mont Liban yesterday!!!" Majoirty Leader Hariri focused on the "uselessness" of such empty riots, and that such behavior will only drive the country into the unknown.

But the main question remains.... Who were those snipers? How were they ready -all of a sudden- and knew exactly were to hide, and who to kill (an Amal official) ? And how didn't the Army notice them?

Many theories can be applied here. One theory would say that there's a third hand in the process, trying to benefit from the endless instability, to bring the country back to the ages of Civil War. But this theory uses the terms "them, third power, Evil hands" with no true evidence, and thereby, can't be trustworthy.

The opposition-theory says that it is in fact M14 who were behind these snipers, so that they can put the Army into a face-to-face conflict with HA. But such theory can't explain how was M14 able to know when this riot was going to happen, and who they should kill of all the people in it, unless of course, there are people in M8 who are cooperating with M14 to put an end to HA's Arsenal!!!!!

Another theory says that it is part of Syria's new rejection to General Sleiman candidacy. Ghassan Tueni stressed on this point in his editorial, pointing out that the best way to "burn" Sleiman's card is to "eliminate" the Army's neutrality.

Whatever the hidden reasons behind yesterday's clashes, one thing is very clear right now: The county is moving towards full chaos, and the only party that can benefit from such chaos, is the one that would be most hurt if stability is ever regained one day.....

Either You Are Stupid...Or You Are Stupid!!!

I haven't been posting for almost a month now. There are many reasons for that actually. First, it's the holiday season, and talking about dirty politics simply doesn't fit in such a season. Second, I'm really tired and fed up of how things are going, ennu you can't help but to see a dead end, and all of us going no where. But most importantly, I haven't been blogging because lately because there is nothing ingenious going on.

But boy....was I wrong or what?!! After the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting, the most outstanding, extremely thoughtful, wonderfully mastered, amazingly understandable explanation of that meeting came up to the surface!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the opposition's understanding of the Arab League initiative was that the next cabinet should be of a 10-10-10 formula for it to be balanced, or else it won't be fair, and it will give M14 the power to topple the government, which M8 won't accept at all costs!!!

You see, the idea seems really really really perfect, but for a simple small left-out detail! M14 can topple the Government ANYTIME they want, whether they have 14, 10 or even 6 ministers in the next Cabinet!!!!

Yes, can you believe that??!! How is such an evil thing be true??!! Well, in case you have forgotten (and somehow, this has been the trend among M8 members lately, and if you don't believe me, read the P.S. at the end of this post ) the next Prime Minister will be from M14, and all what s/he needs to do is to resign, and the government will be toppled!!!

Of course, some geniuses of M8 were able to detect such a defect in their perfect explanation, and so, they demanded that the next PM should be a neutral one, so that the evil American-Zionist M14 won't control the fate of the next government.

Let's just say -for the sake of argument- that this can happen, have you morons forgot what M14 have??!! They have the majority in the Parliament!!! They can simply and very easily WITHDRAW CONFIDENCE from the Government, and it will be toppled before you idiots even be able to say: "WHAT THE F***!!".

I just couldn't hold it inside of me much longer, especially when I see highly educated people, congratulating M8 leaders for their last stand and explanations......

P.S.: Have you guys noticed how the last M8's argument about how the constitution is to be amended (that the current government CAN'T make such amendment) has disappeared, and that no opposition leader is talking about it anymore? Weird.....huh?!

R.I.P. Genreal

Us....and Them...??!!

Yesterday....our lady Majida made us all in tears as she pured her feelings out. She summarized our pain and frustration, and expressed what's burning us from the inside, demanding a solution, and a break for us to live....

Today, the answer came, and it came loud and clear. The Orange General assured us no election is to be held before the holidays. Why the hell should we celebrate!!?? And why the hell should all the hotels in Liban be fully booked??!! No! We all have to continue suffering till the Orange General fulfill all his dreams!!!!

I'm sorry Mrs. Roumi, it seems they don't want to hear your voice and your pledge. They are in a different world...a world of "them"....far away from "us".....

I didn't write about this issue all this time, because deep down inside, I didn't want to believe this is actually happening. I really hoped that at a certain time, things will change and I'll see them back to what we asked them to do. But all that vanished as March 14th declared their official position regarding Constitution amendment.

But, one must face the reality, and as simple as that, March 14th political leaders had just betrayed us. They have betrayed the very basics of March 14th, and it is our role to point that out.

I can't but to think -as I'm writing this post- of all the sacrifices and efforts we all put for the Cedar's Revolution, of all the pure souls that were lost because they believed and made us believe that Liban is coming back. How can I go to Gebran Tueni's Anniversary in a couple of days??? What can I tell him? How can I justify what is happening??!

How can I ever read Samir Kassir's articles again, and never feel this horrible disgust feeling deep inside? What do I tell Pierre Gemayel?? We had to give up? We don't believe in you anymore?

I disagree with you, Mustapha! We are NOT immature, and March 14th political leaders don't need our support now, they need to listen to us, and to know that they have betrayed the trust we gave them. They betrayed our martyrs, and threw away everything they did for Liban.

This blog, stands in respect to the brave men who refused to give up; Ghassan Tueni, Nasib Lahoud and Botrous Harb. In 2004, 29 brave men said no, and started the Revolution. Today, history repeats itself.

Ghassan Tueni said "Independence is made everyday, nothing comes for free". We need to keep this in mind, and we need to keep the dream alive inside us. We owe our martyrs, and we owe Liban that much.

One important note, while this blog is against Constitution Amendment, and against military men entering politics, but I have nothing against General Sleiman, and he showed nothing but pure patriotism, and so he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Let's just hope he will be able to fill the huge gap, that has been there for years....
